15 Best Hotels in Nosara: Where to Stay

Nosara has some of the prettiest small hotels in Costa Rica, but you won’t find a single one on the sand. The whole coast is part of the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge, so hotels are set back in the trees behind the beach.

That’s a big part of the charm. The bigger choice is where to base yourself. Pick Playa Guiones for surf and cafés, Playa Pelada for quiet, or the hills for views. Here are the 15 best hotels in Nosara, split by budget, with rough nightly rates.

Where to Stay in Nosara: Guiones, Pelada or the Hills?

Nosara isn’t one compact town, and that catches plenty of people out. It’s a few beach areas joined by dirt roads, with the village and the airstrip about 6 km inland.

  • Playa Guiones: the surf beach, with most of the hotels, surf schools, yoga studios and cafés. The best pick without a car.
  • Playa Pelada: a quieter bay just north, with tide pools, fishing boats and La Luna for sunset.
  • The hills: Las Huacas and the slopes above Guiones, with jungle views and more privacy. You’ll want wheels.
  • Nosara village: supermarkets and the airstrip, about 15 minutes from Guiones by taxi. Most people stay closer to the beach.

Here’s a quick look at all 15, with rough nightly rates for two people:

The closest are Olas Verdes, about 200 meters through the jungle, and Harmony, a two-minute walk down a jungle path. Most Guiones hotels on this list are a short walk from the sand.
